Tours—Monday 9:30am—3:00 pm
This year we’re offering tours to two different recycling operations in the Tidewater area. The plan is for vans to take us to the two sites with a stop in between to enjoy a barbeque lunch. Meet at the conference registration desk to join in the tours and bring money to cover your own lunch. Please indicate how many people will be attending the tours. Note: Tours are limited to the first 24 people to register. You will be notified if you are waitlisted for the tours.
* S.B. Cox, Inc.—Yorktown
S.B. Cox, Inc. was established in 1963 as a demolition contractor and construction service provider. Their services have grown to include roll-off container service, portable toilet service, crane rental, construction debris recycling, and ready-mix concrete. On this tour, we’ll see their single stream construction and demolition operation and learn about their C&D recycling program.
* Recovery Operations Center - Newport News
The Recovery Operations Center offers disposal options for a variety of materials, such as appliances, e-waste, vegetative waste, recyclables and HHW. You’ll get a bird’s eye view of the center’s composting operations, as well as a look at the operating face of their landfill.
Disc Golf Tournament & Afternoon in the Park - 1:00—5:00 p.m.
Bring your family for an afternoon active fun in the sun at Shelter 3 at Bayville Farms Park, 4132 First Ct Road in Virginia Beach. Activities include kickball, tennis, basketball, shuffleboard, horseshoes and a playground. Bring your ID to borrow equipment from the park and drinks and snacks to share. RSVP to participate in the disc golf tournament. Form your own team of four or register as an individual and we’ll put you on a team.
Dinner at Waterman's Surfside Grille—5:30 p.m.
Meet at Waterman's Surfside Grille to enjoy local seafood and catch up with old friends (and make new ones). This renown local restaurant is located at 5th Street and Atlantic Avenue. Please indicate how many will be attending dinner so we can have enough seats.
