Industry Tours -  9:30 am - 3:00 pm

Tour the Hampton Goodwill Industries Processing Center and Coastal Virginia Environmental Coatings.  $25 fee includes lunch and transportation from the hotel.

Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia - We’ll tour the Hampton facility which is one of the two facilities that supports operations for the Goodwill Stores and programs for Central and Coastal Virginia.    The Hampton facility is a multi-faceted and efficient operation that processes donated materials to provide multiple lines of reusable merchandise at affordable prices, electronics collection and refurbishment,  and much needed services to the communities they serve. The facility includes three retail outlets (Computer Store, Retail Store and Outlet), a Community Employment Center, electronics recycling and refurbishment, the Thomas Nelson Center for Building & Construction Trades and other community resources on their campus. This facility coordinates and oversees the operations in 15 stores and 6 Attended Donation Centers from Williamsburg to Virginia Beach. Of the material taken in, 82% is reprocessed, recycled or reused.

Coastal Virginia Environmental Coatings (CVEC) - Founded in 2017, Coastal Virginia Environmental Coatings, located in the Oakland Industrial Park in the Lee Hall Section of Newport News, is the premier recycler of latex paints. CVEC takes used paint from various waste streams and reformulates it (rather than mixing it) to create new, high quality coatings. The patented process evaluates source material for suitability in the program and rigorously tests paint before, during, and after the process. If not for CVEC, the source materials used in this process would either be disposed of through a residential program or through a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) contractor. This process provides both a disposal solution for used latex paint from residential, government and commercial sources while offering a reasonably priced product for consumers.

Bags for litter collection will be provided and several kayaks may be available to participants, depending on water temperature. Please try to remember to bring your own gloves, otherwise a limited number will be available on site. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen, a hat, comfortable clothes and close-toed shoes that you won’t mind getting wet and/or dirty. We hope you can join us!   Meet in the aquarium lobby.
